TU Berlin Optical Ground Station (Germany)

The TU Berlin Optical Ground Station (TUBOGS) was commissioned by TU Berlin as a turnkey solution for Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) and optical satellite communication, with DiGOS serving as the main industrial partner. The facility is being established together with the National Ground Segment Department of the German Remote Sensing Data Center (DFD) at the DLR site in Neustrelitz, Germany.

The station is designed around an 80 cm telescope system and includes dedicated subsystems for SLR operations at 1064 nm as well as optical communication links at 1550 nm and 1590 nm, compliant with the CCSDS Optical On-Off Keying (O3K) standard. In addition, the infrastructure has been prepared for future upgrades, including the integration of quantum key distribution (QKD) technologies and other advanced optical applications.

DiGOS was primarily responsible for the following tasks:

* Delivery of a turnkey ground station

* Integration of the systems for optical communication and Satellite Laser Ranging

* Provision of the station control software (DiGOS SCOPE) for operation and monitoring

* The station is designed to allow future expansion with additional systems, for example for space debris observation and tracking.
