Laser ranging station at the Yebes Observatory (Spain)

The system is built upon the established architecture of classical Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) stations. It features a biaxial telescope with a Coudé focus and a dedicated, environmentally controlled room prepared for the integration of laser systems.

In addition, the design reflects the current state of the art in SLR technology. Satellite ranging is performed using a laser transmitter operated in a piggy-back configuration. The system employs a dual-wavelength laser source at 532 nm and 1064 nm with a pulse repetition rate of 1 kHz.

The detection unit, consisting of a CSPAD and an IR-SPAD, is also integrated directly on the telescope and mounted at the first Nasmyth focus.
