Bonn became the meeting point for the global space safety community: the ESA Space Debris Conference – the largest of its kind worldwide – took place there. Held only once every four years, it brings together leading experts from science, industry, and space agencies.
For us at DiGOS Potsdam GmbH, it was a great opportunity to be part of this important event. We attended insightful presentations, had in-depth discussions, and exchanged ideas with professionals from around the world – especially on the topic of Space Debris Laser Ranging (SDLR).
A key focus of many conversations was the transition from experimental setups to operational capabilities. This is exactly where our work comes in: with our CLRDE platform, we aim to contribute to future Space Situational Awareness (SSA) efforts by providing high-precision laser tracking data for uncooperative objects in Earth orbit.
We had the chance to present CLRDE to an international expert audience for the first time. We demonstrated how laser ranging data is already being processed and made available in real-time operations. We also shared insights into the current state of the art in operational SDLR applications.
Many thanks to ESA for organizing such a well-run event – and to all participants for the open and engaging exchange.
