AUTONOMOUS MULTI SENSOR STATIONS
Live observation of GNSS, Seismic, Tide Gauge, Meteo & Hydro measurements
The DiGOS team supported by its partner successfully delivered and installed a complete GPS station network and live data processing system in Oman as part of the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning System NMHEWS.

Plate tectonics movement Oman
In 2013 today's DiGOS founders were tasked to develop and implement a near real-time, high precision GPS network for the Sultanate of Oman, a system becoming part of the new National Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (NMHEWS). Under the head of SpaceTech the DiGOS founders teamed up with a local Omani partner, providing a direct interface to the customer, with the Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) in Potsdam as well as the Astronomical Institute of the University of Bern (AIUB) for scientific support.

NEAR REAL-TIME DISPLACEMENT INFORMATION
The system comprises 10 autonomous GPS stations that are distributed over Oman and a fail-safe data processing centre in Muscat.
The commissioned GPS network provides continuous, near real-time displacement information and deformations of the ground in the range of a few millimetres and improves the understanding of tectonic plate movement of the Arabian Peninsula.
An adopted version of the GPS stations' design from the GFZ was used and tailored to meet environmental conditions as well as additional customer requirements. All GPS stations where integrated, tested in Germany and installed in the field by, nowadays, DiGOS employees.

RAW MEASUREMENTS AND ADDITIONAL STATUS MONITORING
The 10 GPS stations are equipped with:
The data centre calculates live ground displacements which are immediately transferred to the decision support system in order to calculate the current threat level according to different scenarios. Additional sensor systems like seismic system, wave radar and tide gauges support the decision process to disseminate the hazard warnings to affected regions.
RAW MEASUREMENTS AND ADDITIONAL STATUS MONITORING
The 10 GPS stations are equipped with:
These displacements are transferred to the decision support system which calculates the current threat level according to different scenarios and other sensor systems (seismic system, wave radar, tide gauges, etc.), and disseminates the warning to affected regions.
The processing systems at the data centre process the raw measurements in near real-time to get precise displacements of the ground.
BERNESE PROCESSING
The raw data streams are received by the data centre where the calculation of displacements takes place in near real-time by the Bernese software. The Bernese processing has been jointly adapted and integrated with the Astronomical Institute of University of Bern (AIUB) in order to achieve an optimal performance for the Early Warning System of Oman.
Additionally, DiGOS employees developed a Software frontend for Terrestrial hazard Identification by GNSS Stations (STIGS) for monitoring the status of the GPS network and as a web based GUI for Bernese. Operators use STIGS to monitor the system's live performance and GPS experts analyse the instant displacement calculations in case of hazardous situations.
